The Islamic Revolution of Iran in 1979, as a turning point in the contemporary history of the Islamic world, not only transformed the political system of Iran, but also paved the way for the revival and new attention to the doctrine of Mahdism in religious and social discourse. The idea of Mahdism, which has a deep connection with the foundations of Shiite belief and Islamic culture, has always led to the dynamism, movement, and historical hope of the Shiite community. Waiting for the emancipation has a meaning beyond passive patience and is presented as a continuous and responsible effort to build a bright future and realize divine justice. The present article, using a documentary approach and a descriptive-analytical method, examines the impact of the Islamic Revolution on the revival of the idea of Mahdism and the concept of waiting. The findings show that the Islamic Revolution, relying on the Quran and the tradition of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), aimed to realize a society based on justice and spirituality and directed the social movement of Muslims towards realizing the Mahdist goals. This event transformed the religious, identity, and social attitudes of Iranians, inspired contemporary Islamic movements, and established an active link between religious politics and the ideal of emergence.
