English

After three decades of the establishment of the Islamic Republic, Iran’s foreign policy towards the Muslim world has been based on promoting convergence and solidarity among Muslim societies. This approach reflects the fundamental goals of the Islamic Revolution to support oppressed nations and liberate them from the domination of colonial powers. Despite this vision, the process of convergence and regional integration among Islamic countries faces significant obstacles and limitations. This study seeks to explain the relationship between the teachings of the Islamic Revolution and the convergence of Middle Eastern countries. It also assesses the theoretical and practical potential of these teachings in facilitating convergence and identifying the challenges facing it. The main hypothesis of this research implies that the fundamental and identity characteristics of the Islamic Revolution, including its cultural-Islamic nature and emphasis on religious democracy and rejection of tyranny, while providing opportunities for convergence, are faced with resistance and challenges by conservative regional actors due to their Shiite foundations and anti-arrogance approach, and are considered an obstacle to achieving convergence.
