Abstract

The goal of the researchers in this research is to investigate the characteristics and impact of nationalism at the social and political levels in Iran and Turkey. In this article, we will use the theoretical foundations of Ernest André Gellner to unify nationalism in Turkey and explain the representation of nationalism in Turkey and its impact on national identity in contemporary Iran in various cultural and political forms. The research data is based on library receipt and reference to first-hand sources. In this regard, a comparative study will be conducted by examining the available sources and how government systems influence the emergence of nationalist movements in Iran and Turkey. In terms of content, this research is considered to be a type of qualitative research, which will be a historiographical investigation at the beginning of the research, but the basis of the research will be analytical and comparative method, which research approach, is based on the influence of environmental factors in Iran and Turkey. Based on the results of the findings, considering the long history of the relationship between Iran and Turkey, the contemporary history of Turkey, which has been affected by a dynamic movement between the influence of modernity and nationalistic tendencies, has affected the national identity in Iran.
